Amir Khan, the producer of upcoming flick ‘Peepli Live’ whose number ‘Mahangai Dayan’ has been making headlines during these inflationary times, has clarified that the number was not created to cash in on the present situation and had been conceptualized at least a year ago.
In fact, the makers of the flick incorporated this number in the film as inflation was not a new issue in the country and had always been a problem for the common man. It’s a different thing that this time it had taken monstrous proportions and political parties called a bandh.
The number ‘Sakhi Saiyan to khube kamat hain, mahangai dayan khaye jaat hai’ was even recorded in sync sound on the original singer Gaya Prasad. The lead of the film Raghuvir Yadav is also present in the number and the whole song was shot and recorded in the original Bundelkhandi ambience and locales.
However, Aamir Khan is wise enough to steer clear from political parties and has refused the Bharatiya Janta Party’s offer to buy the right of the number to be able to use it against the ruling party at the centre.
The film is due for a world wide release on August 13 and Aamir Kahn is taking no chances with its promotion.

As part of his promotional strategy, Aamir Khan has decided to present the flick not as a bollywood film but as a world cinema to the whole world.
To this end, the film is going to be premiered at the Melbourne Film Festival before the audiences later this month in Australia. The film is likely to be shown in the last two days of the festival which is set to begin from July 22.
The film has been written directed by Anusha Rizvi and feature Raghuvir Yadav in the main lead. It also has Malaika Shenoy, Omkar Das Manikpuri, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and other members from the Naya theatre group.
The subject matter of the film is farmers’ suicide in the country and reaction of politicians and media to the whole tragedy.
The film takes a satirical look at the serious problem. However, Aamir Khan feels that the film talks about urban-rural divide in the country.
