Aamir Khan Bollywood film Peepli Live Release date 13 August
Peepli Live is an upcoming Bollywood film which is produced by Aamir Khan. Directed and written by Anusha Rizvi in her first directorial venture, the film stars Naya Theatre company member Omkar Das Manikpuri as well as Raghubir Yadav, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Malaika Shenoy.
A satire on the farmers' suicides and subsequent media and political response ,Peepli Live is competing in the Sundance Film Festival, the first film from Bollywood to achieve this feat. However for the Indian release the film got an 'A' adult certificate. The movie has been picked up by specialty German distribution company Rapid Eye Movies for a special screening at the ongoing Berlin International Film Festival.

Plot
Natha (Omkar Das Manikpuri) and Budhia (Raghubir Yadav), two impoverished farmers in the small Indian village of Peepli, are about to lose their farmland due to outstanding debt. An incompetent politician suggests they commit suicide to get government help and the media becomes involved. They turn Natha into a celebrity as speculation over whether or not he will commit suicide captivates the country.

Production
Peepli Live was filmed on location in Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi. According to Khan, many of the actors are Adivasis from Madhya Pradesh.
