Peepli Live Review: Poverty vs. Paparazzi and Politicians
Peepli Live silently peeps into the lives of the poor farmers, the audiences are taken on a helluva ride in their chair-shaped tractors into the fabricated village of Peepli set in the state of Mukhya Pradesh. After slamming the education system in 3 Idiots, Aamir Khan has directed his sword to unveil the dirty politics going on and simultaneously criticising the paparazzi.Waiting to welcome the people are the two disheartened farmers Natha and Budhiya who allow us a sneak peak onto the canvass which depicts their misery and the life they are striving to live. Unable to bear the brunt of the poverty, the duo decide to end their lives so that their family can munch on the one lakh rupees which will be the cost of their lives as fixed by the government for victims. The self centred politicians seek this as a golden opportunity to blame their rivals, stooping down to any heights to rise above others. The tabloid also comes up to grab their share when the news of suicide scheme reaches their ears. In a hunger to increase their TRPs, the media wastes no time in haunting the two would be victims, capturing their each and every mundane act and popping up with questions every now and then.Peepli Live may not be lavishly localised and lack big superstars but still the movie is successful in delivering its message with the veteran Raghubir Yadav and the newcomer Omkar Das Manikpuri. The duo have penetrated the skin of the farmers excellently and the other characters are also not worth a miss. For all the movie addicts, this one promises to be worth a watch and would not pinch your pockets with its heart touchingstory and praiseworthy performances…
